Koradi Police arrest suspect using Mobile App for Betting on India-Pakistan Cricket Match

Koradi Police arrested a man for using a mobile app to place bets on the India-Pakistan cricket match. Investigation continues to uncover his betting network.

Nagpur, India: The Koradi Police arrested Shaheed Rashid Salmani, a 32-year-old resident of Sillewada, on February 23 for illegally accepting bets on the India-Pakistan cricket match through a mobile app. The police acted on a tip-off and found that Salmani was using the 'Cricket Live Line App' to facilitate online betting.

During questioning, Salmani revealed that he had obtained the app ID "Lords Exch" through Instagram. He also admitted to accepting money from an individual named Gabbar for betting purposes. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover Salmani's connections within the broader betting racket.

A case has been filed under Section 12 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act at the Koradi police station. Meanwhile, the Nagpur Rural Police have detained 86 individuals with a known history of involvement in cricket betting as part of to prevent such activities in the district. 

Superintendent of Police Dr. Harsh Poddar explained that the preventive action was part of a large-scale operation targeting the illegal cricket betting network. The individuals with a criminal history were held at the police station during the match and were subsequently released after being given a warning.
