Nagpur, India: The Tehsil Police have charged Rohit Ashok Doijad, a 32-year-old cashier at Kotak Mahindra Bank’s Itwari branch, with embezzling ₹18.29 lakh between March 6 and May 21, 2024. The case was filed after a complaint from Vivek Vijaykumar Chaudhary, the bank’s manager.
Doijad, a resident of Plot No. 70, Bramhanagar, Narsala, is alleged to have misappropriated the funds during his employment at the branch. He reportedly confessed to the theft during police interrogation.
The police have booked Doijad under Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). An ongoing investigation is examining the extent of the embezzlement.
