Ladakh gets ready for the Ice Hockey League at Royal Enfield

Pangong Lake and other water bodies in the Ladakh region, known as "the cold desert" of the country, experience cryogenic winters. As a result, the region is getting ready to host the Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League, which will promote travel to the "highest motor vehicle road around the globe."
At an elevation of 14,370 feet, the Indian Army's Fire and Fury Corps has already held an inter-village ice hockey competition on the frozen Pangong Tso Lake. The excitement of Ladakh's most beloved winter sport will now be brought to the forefront with the resumption of the Royal Enfield Ice Hockey League this winter.
An integral part of Ladakh's culture, ice hockey has developed from its modest origins to become a sport that brings people together throughout the bitterly cold winter months.
Since its first introduction by the Indian Army, it has grown to be an essential component of Ladakhi culture. Field hockey sticks and skates made from Army boots, as well as makeshift rinks made by freezing water overnight.
