Leopard Seen Near Gorewada International Zoo Causes Scare in Nagpur

Nagpur, India- A leopard was seen near the Gorewada International Zoo. In the Zingabai Takli area of West Nagpur, a leopard is suspected to have killed a calf on Wednesday night. The incident, as per the information, occurred around 10 pm on Wednesday in Sawant Society. A youth in the locality witnessed the leopard in action. 

According to eyewitnesses, one of the locals, Spotted the leopard in the action and doubted of attacking a calf. The news of the leopard's presence and its alleged attack on the calf spread rapidly, sparking fear and concern among the locals. Even though people tried to find the leopard, however, he ran away and disappeared after the incident. While the youth claimed to have witnessed the leopard, the locals are still not sure as to the entry and exit of the leopard.

A local person named Pravin Patil said the leopard ran away when people made loud noises and left the calf behind. The location of the incident was merely 500 meters from the high-tension tower line on Zingabai Takli road, raising further concerns as the Gorewada Zoo area is just half a kilometre away.

This isn't the first time a leopard has been spotted near the area close to the zoo, and cameras even caught one on the zoo's wall. Local police officials have been alerted, and they've informed the Forest Department. They're working for the safety of locals and the cattle as well.
