Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Mahayuti Secures Historic Victory
This surpasses the party’s previous best performance of 122 seats in 2014 and 105 in 2019. The BJP’s dominance has sparked discussions on the Chief Minister’s post, with Fadnavis being a strong contender despite Shinde’s current tenure.

The Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), secured victory in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024. Mahuyuti leads with 235 seats, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is trailing far behind with 41 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked voters, particularly the youth and women, for delivering a “historic mandate” to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). In a statement, he said the victory reflects the people’s trust in the Mahayuti’s governance and vision for Maharashtra.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, and NCP leader Ajit Pawar held a joint press conference to celebrate the alliance’s success. CM Shinde remarked, “This election has decided to whom the Shiv Sena and the NCP belong.” Fadnavis assured that the alliance would smoothly form the next government, saying, “After all the results are declared, our MLAs will meet in Mumbai to elect their leaders.”
Here is the list of winning candidates with the votes they won this Maharashtra Assembly Election of 2024.
Nagpur Central: Pravin Datke had a miraculous victory with 90,560 defeating Bunty Shelke with a margin of 11,632.
Nagpur East: Krishna Khopde having a stronghold in his constituency, won with 1,63,390 votes, making Duneshwar Pethe lose at 1,15,288 margin.
Nagpur North: Dr Nitin Raut secured the seat with 1,27,877 votes, whereas Dr Milind Mane lost with 28,467 margin, gaining 99,410 votes in total.
Nagpur South: Mohan Mate leads with 1,17,526 in total, giving Girish Pandav a defeat of 15,658 margin.
Nagpur South-West: Devendra Fadnavis secured a massive victory with 1,29,401 votes, where in Praful Gudadhe recieved 89,691 votes.
Nagpur West: Vikas Thakre won this election with 1,04,144 votes, had a tough battle as margin was only 5,824 with Sudhakar Kohale.
