Nagpur, India: Nagpur is seeing a major boom in infrastructure, with many big projects like flyovers, bridges, roads, markets, and hospitals under construction. These developments are improving the city's infrastructure and economy, but experts are worried about the rising air pollution caused by these projects.

The construction work is taking place on many major roads in the city, including areas like North Nagpur, South Nagpur, Nag Road, Dighori, and Pardi. In addition to government projects, private companies are also building large facilities, making dust pollution a common issue.

The ongoing construction is causing traffic jams and increasing air pollution, which is bothering both residents and motorists. Many trees near these projects are also covered in dust. While people understand the benefits of development, they are asking authorities to do more to control dust pollution.

"Almost every part of the city has construction work happening, which creates a lot of dust. This makes the air unhealthy for people traveling on these roads," said Rahul Shahu, a local resident.

Experts like Dilip Lataye, head of the Civil Engineering Department at VNIT, suggest that construction sites take steps to reduce dust. These steps could include putting up metal sheets to block dust, spraying water to keep dust down, and doing work during the day to avoid more pollution at night.

Government officials say that projects worth more than ₹50 crore need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB). However, a senior official pointed out that while the NOC is required, dust control methods like installing sheets are not mentioned in project tenders.

As Nagpur continues to grow, residents and experts are urging authorities to manage pollution while working on these big projects.
