Major Sand Smuggling Racket Busted in Kanhan, ₹1.63 Crore Seized

Kanhan police seized ₹1.63 crore worth of illegal sand and arrested seven people in a crackdown on smuggling in Parshivni tehsil.

Parshivni: In a major crackdown on illegal sand smuggling, Kanhan police have seized goods worth ₹1.63 crore in five separate operations in Parshivni tehsil. Seven people have been arrested in connection with the case.

Acting on a tip-off, the police set up blockades in the area. During the operation, several sand-laden tippers were stopped while transporting sand from Mansar to Kanhan. Upon inspection, officials found that the sand was being transported without proper royalty documents.

Led by Inspector Rajendra Patil, the police seized five tippers worth ₹1.75 lakh each and sand valued at ₹1.62 crore.

A case has been registered against seven individuals: Shahanwaz Viraj Ahmed, Dinesh Asharam Gautam, Pancham Girdhar Bhagat, Ravindra Patle, Mohit Mushafir Yadav, Hamid Abdul Baig, and Purushottam Vishnu Uk. Further investigations are underway.
