Nagpur, India: A devastating explosion rocked a gunpowder factory in Kotwalbaddi, Katol taluka, on Sunday, sparking a massive fire that spread to a nearby forest. Several workers are feared dead, though official confirmation is awaited.

The incident comes just days after a similar blast at the Ordnance Factory in Bhandara, raising serious concerns over safety standards at explosive manufacturing units in the region.

According to police sources, the intensity of the explosion caused thick smoke and flames to engulf the surrounding area, heightening fears of further damage. Emergency response teams have been deployed to control the fire and assess casualties.

Salil Deshmukh, a leader from the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), has rushed to the site. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion and the extent of the destruction.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, and further updates are expected.
