In a devastating incident, a massive fire broke out in the godown of Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills Ltd's Denim Division at Nagardhan, located approximately 10 kilometers from Ramtek on Mouda Road. The fire, which occurred on Thursday morning, resulted in the destruction of bundles of cotton thread, cotton bales, machines, denim fabric for jeans, and other materials, collectively valued at over Rs seven crore.

The blaze was first noticed around 10 am when workers observed thick smoke emanating from the godown and immediately informed their superiors. Mill Manager Bhujang Thorat quickly arrived at the scene upon receiving the information. Despite the workers' efforts to extinguish the flames using fire extinguishers, the situation escalated rapidly, prompting Thorat to contact various authorities, including Ramtek Police, Nagar Parishad, Ultra-Tech Cement Company, Chacher, NTPC, Mouda, and Kamptee Municipal Council, to dispatch fire tenders to the location.

Unfortunately, before the fire engines could reach the site, the fire engulfed the entire godown, which was filled with cotton bales. After battling the inferno for nearly four hours, the firefighters successfully managed to extinguish the fire completely. Thankfully, no casualties were reported as a result of the incident.

Mill Manager Thorat stated that the fire had caused extensive damage, resulting in the destruction of cotton thread bundles, cotton bales, denim fabric, a new machine, and other valuable materials worth crores of rupees. An investigation into the cause of the fire was initiated by authorities, including PI Hridayanaraayn Yadav, PSI Kartik Sontakke, and others, to determine the root cause of the incident.
