Nagpur's Automotive Square was thrown into chaos on Tuesday afternoon when a mentally challenged man scaled a towering mobile structure, sparking concerns as he began dismantling its components. Identified as Devidas Hokar from Bihar, the man's erratic behavior led to a tense standoff with authorities.
Yashodhara Nagar police swiftly responded to reports around 2:30 pm, deploying firefighters to the scene. Senior Police Inspector Dyaneshwar Bhadokar coordinated the rescue effort, grappling with the challenge of communicating with Hokar, who was incoherent and threatening self-harm.
With the aid of a 42-meter turntable ladder, firefighters delicately navigated the ascent to safely retrieve Hokar from the perilous height. The incident, though resolved without casualties, highlights the pressing need for enhanced security measures to avert similar occurrences in the future.
