Minor Arrested for Scooter Theft in Nagpur; Vehicle Recovered
Nagpur police recover stolen Activa scooter worth ₹50K; juvenile suspect apprehended. Case under Section 379 IPC, Nandanvan PS handles further action.

Nagpur, India: On the evening of November 18, 2024, around 9:30 PM, a vehicle theft was reported at Nandanvan Police Station in Nagpur. The complainant, Saurabh Ramaji Borkar, a 28-year-old resident of Kirtdhar Society, Wathoda Layout, stated that his Activa scooter (Registration No. MH 49 NY 3267), valued at ₹50,000, had been stolen. He had parked and locked the vehicle near Dani Lawn, Shri Krishna Nagar Square, while attending a wedding function.
Based on his complaint, the police registered an FIR under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code for theft against an unidentified person.
While conducting a parallel investigation, officers from Crime Branch Unit No. 3 received credible information and carried out a technical inquiry. They apprehended a juvenile suspect who admitted to committing the theft. The stolen Activa scooter, worth ₹50,000, was recovered from the juvenile.
The juvenile and the recovered vehicle have been handed over to Nandanvan Police for further legal proceedings.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Nagpur City Police Commissioner Shri Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Shri Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner Shri Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner Shri Rahul Makanikar (Detection), and Assistant Commissioner Shri Abhijit Patil.
The team involved in the operation included Mukund Thakre, Madhukar Kathoke, Dashrath Mishra, Santosh Singh Thakur, Vijay Srivastava, Bhushan Bhagat, Kapil Tandekar, Deepak Lakde, Deepak Dasarwar, Jitesh Reddy, and Pramod Deshbhratar.
