The referee temporarily stopped Sunday's Indian Super League (ISL) game between Mohammedan Sporting and Kerala Blasters at the Kishore Bharati Stadium in Kolkata owing to disturbances in the crowd.

As the game progressed, Mohammedan's home supporters were becoming more and more irate, and the tipping point came when the referee chose not to award a penalty in the last minutes of regulation time.

While there have been reports of other projectiles, such as stones and wooden logs, being thrown in that way by the home crowd, bottles have been spotted being tossed onto the field. On social media, Blasters supporters have also posted images and videos of the home crowd hurling objects at them when they are in the away stand.

Mirjalol Kasimov's penalty kick in the 28th minute gave Mohammedan the lead. This was despite the Blasters controlling the ball early on and scoring several goals in the final third. Mohammedans did a fantastic job of surviving that storm and striking when they could. 

Three minutes later, Peprah scored. Jesus Jimenez gave the Blasters a victory in the 75th minute after they had taken control of the game. At this time, it was evident that the Mohammedan supporters were growing more and more enraged each time a ruling deviated from their wishes. When the Blasters were given a penalty late in the game, it was the decisive moment.
