Nagpur, India- Ambazari Police have taken action against a 38-year-old money lender, Manoj Vasant Hiwarkar, following allegations of extortion amounting to Rs 2.40 crore. The complaint was filed by Narendra Vasudev Dhike, 64, owner of Imagine Point X-ray and Sonography Clinic located on West High Court Road.

According to sources within the police department, Narendra Dhike, seeking financial assistance for upgrading equipment at his clinic, approached Manoj Hiwarkar. They mutually agreed upon a loan with a monthly interest rate of 10% on an initial capital of Rs 30 lakh. The transaction, initiated on September 1, 2021, included the provision of three blank cheques and a stamp paper by Dhike.

Over time, Dhike reportedly repaid a sum totalling Rs 77 lakh to Hiwarkar. However, tensions arose when on May 10, 2024, Hiwarkar, accompanied by two associates, allegedly visited Imagine Point Clinic and threatened Dhike and his family. It was claimed that Hiwarkar presented documents demanding repayment of Rs 2.40 crore, prompting Dhike to file a formal complaint with the Ambazari Police Station.

In response to the complaint, Ambazari Police registered a case under Sections 384, 385, 386, 387, and 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code against Manoj Vasant Hiwarkar. Subsequently, Hiwarkar was arrested by authorities pending further investigation into the matter.

The case highlights ongoing concerns regarding loan agreements and potential abuses of financial arrangements within the community. Ambazari Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the allegations.

For further updates, the Ambazari Police have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring justice in the matter.
