Nagpur, India: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has appointed a new agency for toll recovery on the Hinduridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Expressway. The new agency, Ashmi Road Carrier Private Limited, will oversee operations for a three-month period, while MSRDC will continue to manage passenger facilities and maintenance.
This decision comes after MSRDC issued multiple notices to the previous agency, Roadways Solutions, due to their persistent neglect of passenger amenities at the toll plaza and inadequate responses to employee complaints. Issues included delayed salaries for staff, leading MSRDC to ultimately terminate their contract.
Roadways Solutions had been handling toll collection for the expressway since December 11, 2022. However, the service quality deteriorated as the use of the expressway increased, impacting about 2,800 employees across various toll plazas.
In light of the challenges faced, MSRDC has opted for a short-term contract with Ashmi Road Carrier Private Limited, aiming to improve toll collection efficiency and enhance vehicle movement dynamics at the Samruddhi toll plaza. The new agency officially commenced operations on October 11, bringing hopes for better management and improved passenger experience on the expressway.
