Mumbai, India- Mumbai Police have arrested Mihir Shah, the main suspect in a BMW hit-and-run case that killed a woman and injured her husband. Mihir, 24, was found in Virar near Mumbai after hiding from the police for two days.
Mihir's mother and two sisters were also brought in for questioning from Shahapur, Thane district, along with 10 other people. Police believe that Mihir's father, Rajesh Shah, helped him escape and planned to move the BMW after the accident.
Before the crash, Mihir and his friends had visited Vice Global Tapas Bar in Juhu. The State Excise Department has shut down the bar for serving alcohol to Mihir, who is under the legal drinking age of 25 in Maharashtra.
The accident happened on Sunday morning when Mihir's BMW hit a two-wheeler in Worli. Kaveri Nakhwa, 45, who was riding on the back, was killed, and her husband Pradeep was injured. Police said Kaveri was dragged for 1.5 kilometres by the car before Mihir stopped, changed seats with his driver, and escaped in another vehicle.
After the accident, Mumbai Police formed 11 teams, including the Crime Branch, to find Mihir. They also issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) to prevent him from leaving the country.
The Excise Department sealed the bar in Juhu because it broke the law by serving alcohol to someone underage. The police are still investigating the case and questioning everyone involved to understand what happened.
