The recarpeting work at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport, Nagpur, is now complete. Starting from April 1, 2025, the runway will be available for 24-hour flight operations, bringing relief to passengers and airlines. The summer flight schedule will also begin around the same time, leading to an increase in the number of flights.

Although the main resurfacing work is done, some minor tasks such as painting and cable installations are still ongoing. The Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), which restricted runway use between 10 am and 6 pm, will remain in effect until March 31. After this, normal operations will resume.

The runway painting is being carried out by KG Gupta Company from Indore. The company conducted a survey between June and September 2024 before starting the work. The recarpeting began on October 1, 2024, but faced delays due to various reasons. Work resumed again on November 24, 2024, after a brief break.

Delays and passenger inconvenience caught the attention of the High Court, which took action by filing a public interest case (PIL) and directed the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to expedite the work. The project faced further delays due to VIP movements during the election period. To ensure faster progress, the contractor set up a second hot mix plant at the AAI staff colony around 1.5 months ago.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had given a one-month deadline on December 23, 2024, urging the contractor to complete the work, but the deadline was not met. Earlier, the AAI had projected June 2025 as the completion date.

With the recarpeting now finished, full flight operations will begin on April 1, 2025, along with the summer flight schedule, ensuring smoother travel for all passengers. For detailed flight schedules and updates, passengers are advised to check online sources.
