Nagpur, India- The second day of Nautapa (nine days of intense heat) brought scorching temperatures across the region on Sunday, prompting citizens to seek shelter indoors. Yavatmal recorded the highest temperature at 46.0 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest place in both the region and the state. While some parts of Nagpur experienced a brief drizzle in the afternoon, temperatures remained above 42 degrees Celsius. High humidity compounded the discomfort, rendering coolers ineffective in providing relief. Vidarbha remains on high alert for rising temperatures, following similar conditions in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

Yavatmal's temperature reached a peak of 46.0 degrees Celsius, approaching its previous record of 46.6 degrees set on May 17, 1989. In recent years, it had maintained temperatures below 46 degrees, with the highest recorded at 45.5 degrees Celsius on May 29 and 30, 2019. Buldhana offered relatively cooler temperatures today, with a reading of 38.8 degrees Celsius.
