The second capital of Maharashtra is excitedly awaiting the arrival of the eye-catching Shivai electric bus. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) revealed intentions to launch these buses with eye-catching colors and opulent interiors in its Platinum Jubilee year in an effort to compete with private operators.

In May 2023, the first bus left Pune's Shivaji Nagar and headed towards Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. In August of the same year, a route to Ahmednagar was added.

Residents of Nagpur are dissatisfied that, despite 10 months having passed, talks regarding bringing Shivai buses to the city have not materialized.

The Shivai electric bus is much anticipated by the locals since its ticket price of 15 per stage is similar to that of the ST bus (Lalpari), which is 10 per stage. The electric bus also provides discounts for ladies and senior persons. Although 228 electric buses in the Nagpur division were declared by MSRTC officials, it is still unknown if all of the buses will fall into the Shivai category.
