Nagpur, India: A couple from Martin Nagar ended their lives on their wedding anniversary, citing struggles with childlessness and financial hardships. Anee Jeril Moncriff (45) and Jeril alias Tony Dasmon Oscar Moncriff (56) were found hanging in their home on Tuesday morning after sharing farewell videos on social media.

The couple recorded three videos before their deaths, explaining their pain and decision. In one video, Anee prepared flowers, a bedsheet, and incense sticks before hanging herself. Jeril later placed her body on the bed, covered it with a sheet, decorated it with flowers, and then took his own life.

The videos, sent to family members and shared on social media, raised alarms. Relatives rushed to their home but found the couple dead and informed the police.

Just days before, the couple had celebrated their anniversary with a two-day gathering of family and friends. Despite the festivities, they were reportedly battling emotional and financial struggles.

Police and family sources confirmed the couple had no children and felt lonely for years. Anee, a former chef, had been unemployed for four years, which worsened their financial troubles. While some relatives supported them, the couple’s challenges continued.

Jaripatka police have registered a case of accidental death. Officials are investigating, including Deputy Commissioner Niketan Kadam and Senior Inspector Arun Kshirsagar. The bodies have been sent to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem examination.

This tragic incident highlights the need for mental health awareness and the importance of offering support to those in emotional distress.
