Nagpur Crime Branch Busts Illegal Gambling Rings in Yashodharanagar and Mankapur

Nagpur, India: The Crime Branch Unit 5 of Nagpur Police conducted successful raids in Yashodharanagar and Mankapur, uncovering illegal gambling activities and arresting multiple suspects.

Acting on a tip-off, officers raided a lottery centre at Rani Durgavati Square in Yashodharanagar between 2:30 PM and 5:25 PM on September 28. Three suspects, Manoj Gangadhar Katare (51), Mahesh Deepak Kukde (31), and Vijay Jageshwar Verma (31), were caught placing illegal online lottery bets for financial gain. Police seized equipment worth ₹57,520, including monitors, printers, and scanners. The accused were booked under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act at Yashodharanagar Police Station.

Later, between 3:10 PM and 4:00 PM, officers conducted another raid near Aradhana Society, Mankapur, near the Godhni petrol pump. Six individuals, including Ramu Ramaiya Chaudhary (32), Manish Kashiram Bawne (38), and Haridas Ramji Gajbhiye (74), were arrested for betting on the Kalyan lottery. Cash and gambling materials totalling ₹49,225 were seized. The suspects were charged under Sections 4 and 5 of the Maharashtra Gambling Act at Mankapur Police Station.

The operations were carried out under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Rahul Makanikar, with support from senior officers and Crime Branch personnel.
