Nagpur, India: The Crime Branch’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit in Nagpur rescued a missing 15-year-old girl. The girl's grandfather, a 72-year-old resident of the Sonegaon area, had reported her missing to the Sonegaon Police Station, stating that she had left home without informing anyone. The family suspected that an unknown individual might have lured her away.
Upon receiving the complaint, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit launched an immediate investigation. Acting on intelligence, the unit’s officers located the girl within the Sonegaon area and safely took her into custody.
During the questioning, the teenager revealed that she had left home because she felt lonely and disconnected after her mother's death two years ago. She now lives with her stepmother and felt she could not communicate her feelings to anyone at home, prompting her to leave without notice. Following her rescue, the girl was given counseling to help her cope with her situation.
The operation was executed under the leadership of senior officials, including Commissioner of Police Mr. Ravindra Kumar Singal, Joint Commissioner of Police Mrs. Ashwati Dorje, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Mr. Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detection) Mr. Rahul Maknikar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Mr. Abhijit Patil. The team involved in the rescue included API Lalita Todase, PSI Rajendra Atkale, Shyam Anguthlewar, Constable Rishikesh Dumre, and WPC Vaishali Kinhikar.
Thanks to the quick and coordinated efforts of the Crime Branch, the young girl was safely returned to her family, and further actions are being taken to ensure her well-being.
