Nagpur Crime Branch Seizes ₹2.7 Lakh Worth of Nylon Manja, One Arrested

Nagpur, India: In a bid to curb the sale of banned nylon manja ahead of Makar Sankranti, Nagpur's Crime Branch Unit 2 intensified its operations, leading to the arrest of a 25-year-old man on December 3. The police seized nylon manja and other items worth ₹2.7 lakh during the raid.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid on the road connecting Pili Nadi to Azari Majri in Yashodhara Nagar. The arrested man, Farukh Abdullah Mohammad Shakeel Ansari, a resident of Takia Diwanshah, was found in possession of 60 rolls of nylon manja branded "Mono," valued at ₹1.2 lakh. Additionally, the police confiscated a Suzuki Access two-wheeler worth ₹70,000 and an Apple iPhone 15 Pro valued at ₹80,000. A co-accused, identified as Ashpan, is still on the run.

A case has been filed under Sections 5 and 15 of the Environment Protection Act and Section 223 of the BNS at Yashodhara Nagar Police Station. The police have assured that efforts are underway to track down the absconding suspect and continue their crackdown on illegal nylon manja sales in the city.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Inspector Sandeep Shriram Changole of Crime Branch Unit 2.
