Nagpur, India: In a devastating incident, Two unknown men tampered with an SBI ATM at Netaji Chowk, in the Old Kamthi area of Nagpur, and stole ₹15,000 on October 20, 2024, between 11:00 AM and 12:15 PM. A complaint was filed by Swapnil Gabhne, a 36-year-old resident of Nehru Nagar.
Based on this, the police registered a case and started investigating. Crime Branch Unit 4 officers, acting on reliable information, stopped a Swift car (MH 04 HF 8840) near Jaystambh Chowk. Inside, they found Jitendra Pal (24) and Akhilesh Pal (26), both from Uttar Pradesh. After questioning, the men admitted to the theft and revealed that their accomplice, Vimal Pal, was also involved.
The two also confessed to stealing from ATMs in several parts of Nagpur, including Old Kamthi, New Kamthi, Gittikhadan, Kalamna, and Kapilnagar. Additionally, they admitted to similar crimes in Akola, Buldhana, Nanded, Pune, and Mumbai.
The police recovered ₹34,500 in cash, three mobile phones, a Swift car, various ATM cards, and tools used in the thefts, all worth around ₹4.15 lakh. The arrested men were handed over to the Old Kamthi police for further investigation.
This successful operation was led by senior officers of Nagpur police, including Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal and Additional Commissioner Nisar Tamboli.
