Nagpur Man Arrested for Tying Cattle for Illegal Slaughter

Nagpur police arrest a man for tying cattle for illegal slaughter. 8 animals rescued and cruelty charges filed.

Nagpur, India: Nagpur’s Tehsil Police have taken action against a man for cruelly tying up cattle for illegal slaughter. On 29th January 2025, around noon, the police received reliable information and conducted a raid near Dammadar Dargah in Dobi Nagar.

During the raid, officers found eight live cattle tied up in a room in a cruel manner. When questioned, the accused, Golu alias Asif Mehboob Qureshi (30), a resident of Ansar Nagar, admitted that he had kept the cattle for slaughter.

The police seized the cattle, valued at around ₹98,000, and sent them to the Gorakshan Gaushala in Dhantoli, Nagpur. Based on a complaint by Police Assistant Inspector Yashwant Pawar, a case has been registered at Tehsil Police Station under various sections of the Maharashtra Animal Protection Act and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Further investigation is ongoing.
