Nagpur, India: 25-year-old man from Nagpur will spend three years in jail for blackmailing a teenage girl. A special court for child abuse cases sentenced Aaryan Aawari on Tuesday. He was also fined ₹27,000.

Judge RP Pande found Aawari guilty of breaking laws that protect children and prevent online crimes.

Aawari had been threatening to post private videos and photos of the girl online if she didn't do what he wanted. He had secretly recorded these videos and photos on his phone.

The girl, who was 15 at the time, met Aawari in 2020. She would see him on her way to tutoring. He tricked her into making video calls and recorded her without her permission.

The blackmail came to light when Aawari showed some of the videos to a family member. The girl, upset and scared by Aawari's threats, told her family and a friend. They helped her go to the police in Jaripatka to file a report.
