Nagpur, India: In a significant action on November 26, 2024, officers from Crime Branch Unit 3 of Nagpur Police arrested a habitual offender in Shantinagar after finding him in possession of a dangerous weapon. The incident occurred between 5:00 PM and 6:25 PM when the police were conducting a routine patrol near Mehendibagh Bridge in the Shantinagar area.

While on patrol, the police noticed a suspicious person near the Shiv Mandir. Upon seeing the officers, the individual attempted to flee. However, he was quickly apprehended, and a search revealed a sharp iron knife, worth approximately ₹500, hidden in his possession.

Nagpur, India: The accused was identified as Rahul alias Bablya Govindrao Bawane, a 24-year-old resident of Prem Nagar, Zendachaki, in Shantinagar. Upon questioning, it was revealed that Bawane had previously been banned from entering both Nagpur city and Nagpur rural areas since November 12, 2024, by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch 3, as part of his criminal record.

The police have now registered a case against him under sections 142A135, and 4/25 of the Arms Act for carrying an illegal weapon, as well as for violating the order banning his presence in the city.

Bawane has been arrested and handed over to Shantinagar Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
