Recently, Nagpur Metro unveiled a special programme that gives commuters a free Maha Card with a top-up value of Rs. 200. An estimated 5,000 residents took advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when the programme was first introduced from May 16 to June 15. The programme has been extended for a further two months, making it currently open until August 14, in response to the great popular interest. In celebration of Amrit Mahotsav and India's 75th Independence Day, this creative project was launched.
The Maha Card programme seeks to encourage the usage of electronic payment systems throughout the Nagpur Metro system. Commuters are urged to use practical choices for buying metro tickets, such as smartphone applications and the Maha Card itself. It's interesting that people don't have to pay the customary Rs. 150 cost to get the Maha Card. Additionally, the card includes a free $200 top-up that is good for one month. Commuters who use the Maha Card for metro travel receive a 10% reduction on ticket prices. The Maha Card programme is run in conjunction with Nagpur Metro by the State Bank of India (SBI).
The fare is deducted from the card in accordance with the journey, and both the Maha Card and the sophisticated AFC system are totally safe and transparent. The Maha Card has the following characteristics:
-At metro stations, the Maha Card may be purchased and topped off.
-It is a chip-based smart card with a dual interface (contact and contactless).
-It uses the swiping technique.
-It is practical for mobile and Internet-based transactions.
-Personally issued credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, and Europay, are accepted at the platforms.
