Nagpur, India: In an effort to improve traffic flow, the Nagpur Traffic Police have launched a week-long trial prohibiting right turns on a busy section of the Inner Ring Road. The trial, which began today and will run until 4 May, covers the stretch between Narendra Nagar Square and Shatabdi Square, focusing especially on Suyog Nagar Square, a major congestion hotspot.

Under the new system, right turns at Suyog Nagar Square are banned during peak times — from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Commuters heading between Narendra Nagar and Manewada, as well as those travelling from Badil Kheda towards the TVS showroom at Suyog Nagar, will need to use alternative routes. Pedestrians are advised to cross using U-turns available at Narendra Nagar and Manewada squares.

To facilitate smoother movement, signal timings have been modified, adding extra seconds at key junctions. Citizens are encouraged to provide feedback on the new system by contacting the traffic department on 8976897698.

The initiative follows the successful 'No Right Turn' implementation on Wardha Road, which led to noticeable improvements in traffic conditions. Authorities will review the results after the trial to decide whether to adopt the measure permanently.
