Nagpur Police Arrest Drug Offender with Heroin in Yashodhara Nagar
Nagpur Police's Crime Branch Unit 5 successfully arrested a 55-year-old man for possessing 6.10 grams of heroin during a night patrol in Yashodhara Nagar. The operation resulted in the seizure of heroin valued at approximately ₹1.75 lakh, as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the city.

Nagpur, India: On October 17, 2024, at around 12:30 AM, officers from Crime Branch Unit 5 conducted a successful operation in the Yashodhara Nagar area of Nagpur. Acting on credible information, they set up a trap near Jaybhim Chowk, in front of Jayaswal Beer Shop.
During their patrol, the officers spotted a suspect fitting the provided description. The individual was identified as 55-year-old Rakeeb Ahmed Aminuddin Malik, a resident of Plot No. 92, Khasalanmasala, Kapil Nagar, Nagpur. Upon questioning, he confirmed his identity.
The police proceeded to conduct a lawful search of Malik's active moped (MH 49 CB 5798), during which they discovered approximately 6.10 grams of heroin powder concealed in a zip-lock pouch. In total, they seized items valued at around ₹1,75,700, including the heroin, the moped, and two mobile phones.
Malik’s actions fall under sections 8(c), 21, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He has been booked at the Yashodhara Nagar police station, and further action will be taken against him.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the Nagpur police to combat drug-related offences in the city. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singh and Deputy Police Commissioner Sanjay Patil, along with other senior officers.
