Nagpur Police Commissioner Inspects Sensitive Areas Ahead of 2024 Assembly Elections

Nagpur, India: As the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections approach, Nagpur Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singhal conducted an inspection of the city’s sensitive areas to review security measures on Friday at 11:30 a.m. During this visit, he examined critical polling booths and surrounding neighbourhoods, ensuring safety preparations were on track.
Commissioner Singhal visited key polling stations in the Hasanbag area, including Qadriya High School and Rajendra High School under the jurisdiction of Nandanvan Police Station. There, he reviewed security arrangements and received a detailed briefing from the local police on preventive measures for election safety.
Following this, Commissioner Singhal inspected surveillance operations using a mobile surveillance van (MSV) and drones in areas like Bharatwada Road and Minimata Nagar under Kalamna Police Station. DCP Niketan Kadam from Circle 5 demonstrated how drones were being used to monitor crowd spots, traffic management, movement of potential troublemakers, and ongoing police patrolling around election campaign sites.
Commissioner Singhal also visited the critical polling booth at the Marathi Primary School in Minimata Nagar, where he assessed security protocols and provided instructions for smooth election proceedings.
Throughout his inspection, the Police Commissioner emphasized maintaining tight security, increasing patrolling, and enhancing traffic control. He directed officers to prioritize law and order, closely monitor known troublemakers and habitual offenders, and swiftly implement measures for a secure election environment.
