Nagpur, India: On August 16, 2022, a significant tree plantation drive was held at the Nagpur City Police Headquarters, organized in collaboration with Maitri Parivar. The event, which took place at 11:00 AM, was inaugurated by Dr. Ravindra Singal, Police Commissioner of Nagpur City.
In his address, Dr Singal highlighted the vital role of trees in maintaining the environmental balance, emphasizing their contribution to providing oxygen, preventing soil erosion, reducing air pollution, and regulating temperature. He commended Maitri Parivar for their initiative in supplying saplings and underscored the importance of collective efforts to preserve nature through tree plantation and care.
The Police Commissioner instructed all police station heads in Nagpur to collect saplings provided by Maitri Parivar, available at "Vishnuji ki Rasoi," and to organize similar plantation drives at their respective stations. He also recommended using geo-tagging technology to monitor the growth and condition of the planted trees, advising police stations to seek assistance from the Cyber Police Station if needed. Monthly updates on the status of the saplings, including photographs, were encouraged to be shared within the group.
The event saw active participation from senior police officials, including Joint Police Commissioner Smt. Ashwati Dorje, Additional Police Commissioner Mr Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners, Senior Inspectors, and a large number of Maitri Parivar members and environmental enthusiasts. The initiative reflects the collective commitment of the Nagpur Police and the community towards environmental conservation.
