Nagpur, India: Nagpur City Police have detained a notorious criminal, Umesh alias Ammu, son of Manoj Paisadely, following an order by the Police Commissioner on August 27, 2024. Umesh, a 26-year-old resident of Railway Quarters, Kadbi Chowk, Jaripatka, Nagpur, has been involved in several serious crimes, including violence and property offenses, within the jurisdiction of Sadar Police Station. He was taken into custody and placed in Nagpur Central Jail under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act, 1981.
Umesh has a history of criminal activities, with cases registered against him at multiple police stations, including Sadar, Sitabuldi, Imamwada, and Jaripatka. His offenses include attempted murder, extortion with threats of death or grievous harm, armed robbery, theft, and criminal trespass. Despite previous preventive actions—such as detentions under the MPDA Act in 2021 and 2023 and proceedings under Section 110 of the Criminal Procedure Code in 2017 and 2022—Umesh continued to engage in illegal activities.
Recent crimes allegedly committed by Umesh include attempts to kill, extortion, carrying deadly weapons, and violating restraining orders within the Sitabuldi and Sadar areas. His ongoing criminal behavior and the threat it poses to public safety led the Senior Police Inspector of Sadar Police Station to propose his detention. This recommendation was supported by the Crime Branch’s MPDA Division.
The detention order has been executed, and Umesh is currently held in Nagpur Central Jail, with plans for his transfer to Kolhapur Central Jail, Kalamba. The Nagpur City Police have reiterated their commitment to taking stringent actions against individuals who disrupt public peace and safety.
