Nagpur, India: Nagpur Crime Branch Unit 4, successfully cracked 2 significant theft cases, recovering stolen goods valued at approximately ₹1.5 lakh and held the accused from Delhi.

The first incident happened on October 28, 2024, between 8:00 PM and 8:10 PM, at the Inspire Apple Store in Nexon Point, Civil Lines, Nagpur, within the Sadar Police Station's jurisdiction. Rohit Dilip Gupte, 37, the store’s owner, had set an iPhone 16 Pro Max worth ₹1.4 lakh on a charging dock for display. An unidentified thief took advantage of the situation and, without being noticed, stole the high-end phone. Gupte promptly reported the incident to the Sadar Police, who registered a case under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code.

While investigating, Crime Branch Unit 4 officers received a tip-off and traced the suspect to North East Delhi. The accused, Hussain Maqsood Ali, 35, a resident of Gautam Vihar, was taken into custody. During interrogation, he confessed to the theft of the iPhone. Further, it was revealed that Ali had also stolen an Asus laptop from the Reliance Digital store in VR Mall within the Imamwada Police Station jurisdiction.

The police team recovered both the stolen iPhone and an additional mobile phone from the suspect, along with other items totalling a value of ₹1.5 lakh.

The operation was successfully led by Police Commissioner Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner Nisar Tamboli, Additional Commissioner Sanjay Patil, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Maknikar, and Assistant Commissioner Abhijit Patil. The team was composed of PI Kamalakar Gaddime, API Avinash Jaybhaye, and other dedicated personnel.
