Nagpur, India: The Tehsil Police in Nagpur have rescued 12 cattle during a raid in the Ansar Nagar Dhobi area, preventing their illegal slaughter. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted the raid near Mohammadiya Madrasa and Ansari Kirana Stores on the morning of October 14, 2024.

The cattle, valued at approximately ₹1.14 lakh, were found cruelly tied in a small room where they could barely move. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the animals belonged to two locals, Avesh Qureshi (25) and Mir Sahab Qureshi (50), both residents of Ansar Nagar Dhobi.

The police swiftly rescued the cattle and handed them over to the Gaurakshan Samiti in Dhantoli for safekeeping. A case has been registered against the accused at Pachpaoli Police Station under the Maharashtra Animal Preservation Act, 1995, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

The operation, led by Officer Vikas Yadav and his team, is part of an ongoing effort to crack down on illegal slaughter activities in the city. Further investigation is underway.
