Nagpur City experienced its coldest day of the season as the lowest temperature dropped by 4.3 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours, reaching 12.9 degrees Celsius. The dry climate has boosted the cold effects on the residents. The city's sky is clear, and this trend is expected to continue throughout the week, with temperatures between 12 and 13 degrees. Nagpur ranks as the second coldest city in Vidarbha, with Gondia recording the lowest temperature at 12.6 degrees.
Despite the formation of a cyclonic circulation from the southeast Arabian Sea to the Maldives, the Meteorological Department reports no significant impact on Vidarbha or Central India. A new western disturbance is anticipated in the Himalayan region from December 11 onwards, but its influence on Central India is projected to be minimal.
The observations of the past 24 hours reveal a nighttime temperature decline of one to four degrees in each district, signalling a likelihood of further mercury drops in Vidarbha districts, including Nagpur, in the coming days. On Sunday evening, north-eastern winds with gusts of 3.7 km/h contributed to Nagpur's abrupt decrease in mercury levels.
