Nagpur Traffic Police Changes Speed Limits to Reduce Accidents
Nagpur Traffic Police revises speed limits to reduce road accidents by 10%. New rules apply until March 2025.

Nagpur, India: The Nagpur Traffic Police has set new speed limits for vehicles in the city and on highways to reduce road accidents by 10%. The changes are in line with guidelines from Maharashtra Traffic Police and aim to improve road safety.
Here are the new speed limits:

Motorcycles:
- On plain roads (dual-lane with divider): 60 km/hr
- On hilly roads: 40 km/hr

Passenger Vehicles (8-seater & 9-seater):
- On plain roads: 60 km/hr
- On hilly roads: 40 km/hr

Commercial Passenger Vehicles:
- On plain roads: 50 km/hr (8+ seater), 40 km/hr (9+ seater)
- On hilly roads: 30 km/hr

Two-lane Access-Controlled Roads (M2/M3 category & transport vehicles):
- On plain roads: 80 km/hr
- On hilly roads: 40 km/hr

Commercial Passenger Vehicles on Highways:
- On plain roads: 100 km/hr
- On hilly roads: 60 km/hr

Four-lane Highways and Above:
- Commercial Passenger Vehicles: 90 km/hr
- Transport Vehicles: 60 km/hr

Four-Wheelers Transporting Nine or More Passengers:
- In the city: 60 km/hr
- On hilly roads: 40 km/hr

Three-Wheelers, Auto-Rickshaws, and Two-Wheelers:
- These vehicles are still restricted in no-entry zones.
The new speed limits will be in effect until March 10, 2025. People can give their suggestions or objections during this period, and changes will be made based on the feedback.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Archit Chandak, said speeding is a main cause of accidents in Nagpur. The new limits aim to keep people safe and reduce injuries and deaths on the roads.
