Nagpur Woman Dies by Suicide After Revealing Husband's Abuse in Video Call

Nagpur, India: A 24-year-old woman, Ashwini Bhaveshkumar Badule, died by suicide after a video call with her parents, where she revealed the abuse she faced from her husband. The incident happened in the Lakadganj area on 24 January.
Ashwini, who lived at Garoba Maidan, Kapsi Square, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her home around 11 pm. She had married her husband, Bhaveshkumar Badule (32), in June 2024. According to police, her husband began abusing her shortly after their marriage. She reportedly suffered physical violence, and verbal abuse, and was stopped from contacting her parents.
On the morning of her death, Ashwini made a video call to her mother, Malti Purushottam Kukte, and tearfully shared the details of her husband’s abuse. Her mother tried to comfort her, but Ashwini ended her life later that night.
The police have filed a case against Bhaveshkumar under Sections 108 and 85 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and are investigating further.
This tragic case highlights the serious effects of domestic abuse and the need for timely help for victims.
