Nagpur, India: After seven years of delays Kamptee Road double-decker flyover is almost ready for use and will soon be open to traffic. This was built to reduce congestion, but the flyover is now raising concerns that it could worsen traffic problems between LIC Square and Samvidhan Square.
This new flyover will be the third in the area, joining the already crowded Sadar-Mankapur-Katol Road flyover and the Ramjhula flyover. Traffic experts worry that having all three flyovers so close together could create more chaos on the busy stretch.
The Sadar flyover has already caused major traffic jams, leading the traffic police to reroute vehicles through roads. However, the true impact will only become clear once the flyover opens.
Construction on the Kamptee Road flyover started seven years ago but faced several delays, including a three-year pause. Recently, the project moved forward after Maha Metro acquired the necessary land at LIC Square, allowing the construction of the landing ramp to continue. The district administration approved the purchase of over 2,300 square meters of land, clearing the way for the final stages of the project.
