Nagpur, India: In a significant enforcement action, the Nandanvan police have arrested a banned individual, Pankaj alias Chilchilya Suresh Rao Shinde, aged 30, during a search operation conducted between 5:50 PM and 6:45 PM. Shinde was found in the Nandanvan slum, Lane No. 13, an area he is prohibited from entering under a city-wide ban.
The operation was led by officials and staff from Crime Branch Unit 4, who acted on reliable information about Shinde's unauthorized presence. Shinde had been placed under a one-year ban from both Nagpur city and its rural areas, effective from April 3, 2024, by the Additional Police Commissioner, Division 4.
Shinde’s arrest follows a complaint filed by Police Nazir Sheikh at the Nandanvan police station. Sub-Inspector Dalvi has charged Shinde under Section 142 of the IPC for violating the ban order. Shinde is currently in police custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.
