Nagpur, India : As part of the Amrit Bharat scheme, the Railway Ministry is introducing improved facilities at 15 stations in the Nagpur Division of South East Central Railway to make passenger movement more convenient.

To enhance convenience for citizens, including the elderly and differently-abled, lifts and escalators are being installed at these stations. The projects are in various stages of completion, with a budget of ₹223 crore allocated for different development initiatives.

Lifts and escalators are being installed, along with planned improvements for the circulating areas at several stations, including Kamptee, Bhandara Road, Tumsar Road, Gondia, Wadsa, Chanda Fort, Chhindwara, Dongargarh, Seoni, Nainpur, Mandla Fort, and Rajnandgaon. Additional development projects are also proposed for these stations.

This includes upgrading waiting halls with essential amenities such as eateries, ATMs, internet access, washrooms, covered sheds, and standardized signage. The renovation is focused on eco-friendly design, ensuring maximum use of natural sunlight and proper ventilation.

The designs have been created with these basic necessities in mind. A total of 29 lifts are being installed, with two each at Kamptee, Bhandara Road, Tumsar Road, Wadsa, Mandla Fort, and Chanda Fort; four each at Gondia and Dongargarh, and three at Chhindwara and Seoni stations.

Additionally, 14 escalators are being installed, with four each at Gondia, Rajnandgaon, and Chanda Fort, and two at Dongargarh. These escalators will assist elderly, sick, and differently-abled individuals in moving smoothly to and from the platforms.
