Nagpur, India: The traffic police have introduced new measures to manage congestion on Wardha Road, effective today from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Vehicles traveling from Morris College T-point to Ajni Square will no longer be allowed to make right turns at Rahate Colony T-point or Kruplani Square, though left turns will still be permitted.

According to the new traffic plan, vehicles from Ajni Square and Morris College T-point will be allowed only left turns at Rahate Colony and Kruplani Squares. Traffic from Deekshbhoomi Square to Kruplani Square will also be restricted. However, residents in the Deekshbhoomi-Kruplani Square area can make a left turn from Ajni Square, enter Deekshbhoomi Road, and take a U-turn to reach their homes.

Vehicles coming from Congress Nagar Square will also be restricted to left turns, with right turns prohibited to minimize traffic buildup.

DCP Traffic explained that the short distance between Kruplani Square and Rahate Colony Square is a major cause of congestion, leading to traffic jams near the Shaheed Govari Flyover. The new rules aim to allow vehicles to move without stopping between Morris College T-point and Ajni Square. Around 80% of the vehicles on Wardha Road continue straight, with only 20% making turns at Kruplani Square or Rahate Colony Square.

To facilitate smoother traffic flow, traffic signals between Rahate Colony Square and Ajni Square will be set to blinker mode during peak hours. These changes will be in effect from September 23 to 28 and may continue based on the results.

Extended Signal Timing at Morris College T-point

The signal timing at Morris College T-point will be extended by 10 seconds to speed up the movement of vehicles toward the Shaheed Govari Flyover, reducing the chance of traffic jams at the square.

Key Traffic Changes

  1. Vehicles from Morris College T-point can proceed to Ajni Square but cannot make right turns at Rahate Colony or Kruplani Squares; left turns are allowed.
  2. Vehicles from Ajni Square to Morris College T-point must follow the same rule, with right turns prohibited.
  3. Vehicles from Mata Kacheri to Kruplani Square will be diverted to NEERI T-point, where they can take a left toward Ajni Square and make a U-turn toward Manish Nagar Flyover.
  4. Vehicles from Ajni Railway Bridge or Congress Nagar must turn left at Kruplani Square and Rahate Colony Square, head to Ajni Square, and make a U-turn toward the Shaheed Govari Flyover or proceed straight to the airport.
  5. Traffic signals between Rahate Colony Square and Ajni Square will operate in blinker mode during peak hours to ensure a smoother flow of vehicles.
