Nagpur, India: In a major action, Crime Branch Unit 5 police in Nagpur arrested a man for illegally storing and selling banned tobacco products in the Gittikhadan area.
On November 9, between 6:10 PM and 8:10 PM, police patrolled Gittikhadan when they received a tip about illegal activity at Plot No. 96, Adarsh Nagar. Acting quickly, officers raided the location and arrested Rajendra Shivpujan Shukla, aged 50. They seized various banned flavoured tobacco products and pan masala brands like Rajnigandha, Bagban, Babaji 120, Rajshree, Ratna, Sagar, and Vimal, worth around ₹4,71,989.
According to police, Shukla was storing these products with the help of two accomplices, Sanjay Jaiswal and Kanju Bihari Thakur, both from Ame Nagar, Koradi. Police registered a case against Shukla under various sections of the IPC and the Food Safety and Standards Act at Gittikhadan Police Station.
The arrested man and seized goods are now in police custody for further investigation. This operation was led by Nagpur Police Commissioner Mr. Ravindra Kumar Singhal, with officers Mr. Nisar Tamboli, Mr. Sanjay Patil, Mr. Rahul Maknikar, and Mr. Abhijit Patil guiding the team.
