India now has seven medals overall after Nishad Kumar's outstanding performance to win a silver in the men's T47 high jump event at the Paris Paralympics. Additionally, this was India's second medal of the day.

At the competition, Nishad jumped the highest—2.04 meters—which was also the greatest of his season. With a best leap of 2.12 meters, USA's Roderick Townsend took home the gold medal, while Georgii Margiev—representing the Neutral Paralympic Athletes—brought home the bronze with a jump of 2.00 meters.

Three years prior, in the Tokyo Paralympics, Nishad had also won a silver medal. Back in Tokyo, he had leaped 2.06 meters. Preethi Pal also made history earlier in the day when she became the first female Indian track and field athlete to win two medals at the Paralympic Games.
