Nagpur, India: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has finally got five new assistant commissioners after facing a shortage for a long time. Because of this shortage, senior officers at the deputy commissioner level had to look after zone-level work.

In the past week, five zones have been given new assistant commissioners. According to the latest order:

Earlier, deputy commissioner Milind Meshram was handling Laxminagar Zone along with his work in the revenue department. Prakash Warade was in charge of Dharampeth Zone before retiring at the end of March, and Ashok Garate was handling Mangalwari Zone. Narendra Bawankar and Vikas Raibole were managing Hanuman Nagar and Nehru Nagar Zones.

The order was issued by Vijaya Bankar, deputy commissioner of the general administration department. With these appointments, NMC now has seven assistant commissioners, which will help reduce the workload on senior officers and improve civic work in the city.
