Nagpur, August 7, 2024: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has reached a significant milestone by submitting over 200,000 applications for the Maharashtra government's "Majhi Ladki Bahin" Yojnato the District Collector's office for approval. This achievement was reached in just one week.
The scheme offers monthly financial assistance of Rs 1500 to women from families with an annual income of up to Rs 2.5 lakh. To ensure that as many women as possible benefit from this scheme, the NMC has taken special measures. Under the guidance of NMC Commissioner and Administrator Dr Abhijit Chaudhary, the NMC has thoroughly checked and submitted the applications. Dr Chaudhary praised the efforts of over 280 computer managers, Social Development Department officers, and IT Department staff for their diligent work.
A special cell has been established at the NMC headquarters to process applications for the scheme. This cell is equipped with over 100 computers and operates in three shifts with around 280 computer managers verifying applications before sending them for approval. Their hard work has been instrumental in achieving this milestone.
Women in Nagpur have shown great enthusiasm in applying for the scheme. Many have submitted their applications at NMC’s zonal and ward offices. To handle the large volume of applications, the NMC has employed computer managers in three shifts and set up four special cells at the Civil Lines headquarters. As a result, 2,12,778 applications have been submitted to the District Collector's office for further action, with only 181 applications rejected and 5898 partially rejected. Another 2589 applications are currently being processed.
Dr. Abhijit Chaudhary congratulated the computer managers and staff involved in the application and verification process, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts. He assured that the NMC is taking special care to ensure that no eligible woman is deprived of the scheme’s benefits. Women can also submit their applications online or at NMC’s zonal and ward offices. Applications with incomplete documents are temporarily rejected, but applicants can resubmit once the required documents are provided. The deadline for submitting applications is August 31, 2024.
This effort was completed under the guidance of NMC Deputy Commissioner Dr Ranjana Lade, with significant contributions from the IT Department’s Kamlesh Jhanzad, Swapnil Lokhande, Pranay Jaiswal, Ravindra Kidarle, and Siddharth Zodape.
Required Documents for the Scheme:
- Aadhaar Card
- Maharashtra state domicile certificate or equivalent documents like ration card (older than 15 years), school leaving certificate, birth certificate, or voter ID card
- Proof of income (annual income up to Rs 2.5 lakh) such as a yellow or orange ration card
- Bank account passbook (linked with Aadhaar card)
- Guarantee letter
Note: Women already receiving Rs 1500 under schemes like Shravanbal, Sanjay Gandhi Niradhar, and other governmental financial aid are not eligible for this scheme.
