Nagpur, India: A major crackdown by Tehsil Police Station in the illegal sale of banned nylon manjha in Nagpur. Acting on a tip-off from a confidential informant, a team of officers conducted a raid in the Takiya Diwanshah area, near Salim Hotel, around 6:30 PM on January 11, 2025.

The police were informed about nylon manjha in the back alley of the hotel while patrolling. The suspect, identified as Mohammad Sameer Ansari (19), a resident of Takiya Diwanshah, was found in possession of two plastic bags containing 62 spools of the banned kite string. The products were labelled with brands such as Mono Kite, Mono Gold, and Mono Shakti. The estimated value of the seized goods was approximately ₹1,08,000.

Following the seizure, the police filed a case against the accused under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 5 and 15 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986, which prohibits the sale and distribution of dangerous materials like nylon manjha.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant against the use of banned kite strings, which pose serious threats to public safety and the environment.
