The suspicious death of a man in Wadi's New Mhada Lig Colony on Tuesday has sparked outrage at the Wadi police station. The man was reportedly assaulted by five individuals during the night and was found dead in the morning. Initially, the police did not take the incident seriously, leading to anger among the victim's relatives who gathered at the Wadi police station. Eventually, the police recorded a statement from the deceased's wife.
The deceased identified as Rajesh Raghav Tiwari (40), worked at a transport company to support his family. According to Rajesh's wife, Sohani Tiwari (31), around 12:30 am on Monday, Tej Pratap, Karan, and three other unidentified youths knocked on their door. When Rajesh answered, the assailants demanded he come outside. Rajesh agreed, saying he would return in five minutes. When he did not return home after half an hour, Sohani went outside and saw the five individuals severely beating Rajesh. Frightened, she watched as they brought Rajesh inside in a semi-conscious state and laid him down. Karan then threatened Sohani and rudely demanded she make tea. When Sohani asked why they had beaten Rajesh, the assailants denied harming him and warned they would beat him further if they did not receive money. They then left.
Upon investigation, blood was observed oozing from Rajesh's lips, and he had wounds on his back and a swollen shoulder. Out of fear, Sohani did not disclose the incident to anyone. On Tuesday morning, when she tried to wake Rajesh, she discovered he had passed away. The police were informed and registered a case of accidental death; however, they initially did not record Sohani's statement.
A large number of local residents gathered at the Wadi police station to protest the police's handling of the case. The Police Inspector of Wadi assured them of a thorough investigation and further action.
