Nagpur, India: After years of delays and missed deadlines, the Pardi flyover is finally set to open for traffic on February 16. The project, which started in 2016, has faced numerous challenges, causing major inconvenience to residents and commuters.
Officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) have confirmed that final works, including recarpeting and light installation, are underway. Though the flyover was originally scheduled for completion in 2019, multiple delays pushed the deadline further. In 2021, the collapse of ten girders on the Kalamna arm caused additional setbacks.
In September 2023, three arms of the flyover were opened, but construction continued on the remaining sections. The road beneath the flyover was in poor condition, full of potholes, leading to several minor accidents. However, NHAI is now working on road improvements, bringing much-needed relief to commuters.
