Chandrapur, India: On Tuesday, when parents reached the school along with their wards, they saw only one teacher working in the school. A Zilla Parishad school in Vihirgaon, which comes under Chimur panchayat, has only five teachers.
When parents enquired about the situation, they discovered that four other teachers were also on leave. This concerned the parents of the students, as they were worried about their children’s future. Consequently, they resorted to a “Thiya Andolan” on school premises.
The protesting parents declared that they will continue their protest until a senior authority from the education department comes here and discusses the situation.
The protest by the parents has raised concerns among the authorities in the education department. The Zilla Parishad school in Vihirgaon has classes up to 7th and has 117 students enrolled from Nagpur.
On September 30, three teachers were on leave, while one teacher had gone out, giving an excuse of some work at the Panchayat Samiti office.
Only one teacher was there in school, and the number of students is higher. The students were seen playing and roaming in school premises.
Seeing this chaotic scene in the school, parents enquired about it, and the whole mess came to the fore. The block education officer ordered the head of Khadsangi centre to record the statement from Sarpanch and the president of the school education committee, who later submitted the report to the block education officer.
