According to a police official, the front-side parking space is exceptionally small, accommodating only a few cars at a time. This limitation poses difficulties for other vehicles attempting to find suitable parking, particularly impacting citizens dropping off or picking up passengers. The situation becomes more critical for those assisting senior citizen relatives, as there is insufficient space for direct access to the platform.
The situation exacerbates outside the railway station with haphazardly parked vehicles contributing to congestion. A railway official emphasized that the problem intensifies during peak hours, coinciding with the departure of several Nagpur-originating trains. The limited space cannot cope with the surge in vehicles during peak times, resulting in a challenging environment.
A concerned citizen stressed the challenges faced, especially when dealing with a heavy flow of vehicular movement at the Nagpur Railway Station. The lack of available parking space forces spouses to drop off family members at the station's entrance without the ability to accompany them to the platform.
Current parking facilities include designated spaces for two-wheelers, but four-wheelers are limited to a single parking slot near the historical steam engine. This narrow space results in difficulties for citizens attempting to secure parking. The congestion during evening hours has led to a line of cars extending as far as the State Bank of India ATM. The four-wheeler drop-off facility is strictly for brief stops, with unattended vehicles facing immediate fines from vigilant police officials.
In response to these challenges, there is an urgent need for improved parking solutions at Nagpur Railway Station to alleviate the inconvenience faced by citizens and ensure smoother vehicular movement during peak hours.
